Prompt for Day 20: Favorite depiction of The Lovers- VI card and why?

The Lovers VI Gilded Tarot_012020 smallI would say the depiction from the Gilded Tarot (Marchetti). It has a strong passion and primal element I like; it brings out the passionate love angle.

Another favorite is the depiction in the Santa Muerte Tarot (Listrani). They The Lovers VI Santa Muerte Tarot_012020 smalllook like they are making, creating something together. Plus I love the colorful art.

Prompt for Day 18: Your choice for best deck for meditation/journey work.

Prompt for Day 19: Your choice for best deck for ritual/magic.

For meditation/journey work, I’d say the Gaian Tarot (Colbert; link to my review) would be good. Its modern and earthy imagery can be good for meditation, journey work, and journaling. In fact, the companion book does offer journal prompts too.

On a side note, for shadow/darker work, Vampires Tarot of the Eternal Night or Ghost Tarot (both by Corsi; link to review of the Vampires deck).

I’ll note that while I have other decks in my collection that may be good for meditation and/journey work, the decks I am mentioning are decks I have used consistently so far, have bonded with, and I know work well for this. Down the road the choices could change, but this is it at this time.

My choice for ritual/magic would be the Santa Muerte Tarot (Listrani; link to my review). I can say it has worked for me very well so far.

Prompt for Day 17: What celebrity would you read for and why?

Nina Hartley, photographed by Mark Dektor.

I admit that I was about to skip this prompt because I do not care much for celebrity culture overall. Then as I was about to move on Nina Hartley of all people came to mind, so I am choosing her.

I think she would combine a sexy element plus her smarts and insights to make for a fun and interesting reading. Like I get the feel I’d read cards for her, but she would also add to the reading a bit. It could make a complementary experience.

As a side note, if I had to pick a Tarot card to represent her, I’d say she could be a pretty good Queen of Wands.

On another side note, I’d let her choose a deck to read from as I often do with clients. If the choice falls to me, I’d pick one of the decks I am very comfortable and confident using. After all, we want this to be a good reading. So, with that in mind, if I had the choice, I would likely use one of the following: Witches Tarot (Dugan and Evans), Steampunk Tarot (Moore and Fell), or the Vampires Tarot of the Eternal Night  (Corsi).

Prompt for Day 16: Paint, draw, collage your 2020 Tarot card. Why have you chosen this card?

31 Days of Tarot Day 16 _010720 small

I did the birth date plus current year method to get my card of the year, and for this year its Temperance- XIV.

This is a prompt in this series I always feel a bit self-conscious about since I am not exactly an artist. I did study art in younger days, drawing and painting, but I never kept up with it as an adult. So part of me gets a bit self-conscious when asked to draw something.  Still, I think I managed to get the essence of the card in the drawing.

Looking ahead for the year then, a theme of balance and tempering things together for strength.

Prompt for Day 15: What is your favorite pop culture Tarot reader/representation and why?Jane Seymour as Solitaire the voodoo reader in Live and Let Die film small

Jane Seymour as Solitaire the voodoo psychic card reader in the film To Live and Let Die. I watched this film in younger days. Solitaire was really my first exposure to a card reader. The image has stayed with me over the years.

Prompt for Day 14: Do you have Tarot tattoos, art, home decor to share or want?

No, I do not have any Tarot tattoos nor any other tattoos. Other than a cloth or two I used to lay cards on, I do not have much Tarot art or home decor.

Tarot art 31 Days of Tarot 2020 Day 14_010620 smallI do have one small piece that qualifies, a Sun/Moon face on my wall next to a small plaque my mother (RIP) gave me when I left for college many years ago. The art piece is new to me; I bought it from a local artisan, and it does add a bit of magic to my home work station.

Prompt for Day 13: Where would you like to be with your Tarot practice in 10 years time?

To be honest, I am not totally sure about this. I would like to keep studying Tarot and cartomancy, learning more, and continue getting more proficient at reading the cards. And as I get better at reading cards and exercising my intuition, I would like to read more for other people. That is something I would like to work my way up. Plus maybe by then I can read at least semi-professional and do readings for a few coins here or there. We’ll see how it goes.
