Alchemical Thoughts

Challenge: What are your optimism levels like toward the end of 2018? Pull one card to reflect how optimistic (or not) you currently feel. The second card is for a reason for optimism in the year ahead. If the card itself looks bleak, it means this situation is ending.

Two Tarot cards: The High Priestess- II and The Devil- XV from the Santa Muerte Tarot deck

On how optimistic (or not) you feel: The High Priestess- II. This was a jumper card, and it did land straight up firmly. Going with gut feeling and/or intuition, I’d say things are looking pretty positive for us at home. I do not hold much optimism for the United States (as long as the Party of Stupid keeps running it), but at home I think and feel we’ll be alright. A good time to focus on personal learning, study, and development.

On reasons for optimism in the year ahead: The Devil- XV. Interestingly enough, I do not see this card as bleak. It is a note of caution to watch out for temptations that may not be good for you. Also, being aware of who or what may pull your strings or push your buttons means you can work on not giving them such power over you. The Devil’s binds are often ones we self-impose, so it means you can choose to remove them. So for the coming year, work on removing more of those binds.

On a positive note, The Devil could bring material and worldly indulgence so perhaps next year will bring some of that. Indulge but be selective about how and what to indulge.

Challenge: What was your biggest fear in 2018? Did it happen? Do you still carry this fear? Pull one card for your fear and another card for what to expect with regards to this fear in the year ahead.

Two Tarot cards: Two of Cups and Five of Pentacles from the Santa Muerte Tarot deck.

On biggest fear of 2018: Two of Cups. One of the fears was time lost with my partner. And while she has been extremely busy at times any fears of distance or separation have not happened. We’ve managed to hang on. Much like the image on the card, we’ve often leaned on each other to keep our strength and bond.

On what to expect in the New Year regarding this fear: Five of Pentacles. Some lean or tight times may be ahead. It could be money, but I feel more the material aspect may be in time, as in time being apart. This may be a continuation of 2018, but as long as her work remains as it is, that is a given. Just keep moving and supporting each other in order to make it.
