Alchemical Thoughts

As noted previously, you can find all the prompts here; Lisa Frideborg Eddy, the author, has put them in a PDF book that you can download for free. For this series, I am using the Santa Muerte Tarot deck.

Challenge: Ask the Tarot to show you the event that lead to the biggest transformation in 2018. Pull a second card to tell you more about this event and/or how you responded to it.

Another prompt that seems vague to me. At times I wonder if Tarot and oracle readers always go about having epiphanies, transformations, dramatic changes, ascensions, etc. What happens to those of us who live plain simple lives where not much really happens? I get having a life lesson now and then, but all this drama, good grief. Anyhow, let’s see what the cards say.

On transformational event: Knight of Swords. I had to learn quickly in the past year and pull a trick or two along the way, some ingenuity. A colleague’s retirement spurred me to more action. A program they helped run is all mine now, and I had to learn one way or another, which I did.

On further information: Two of Swords. This is about choices, especially choices where I had to take a leap of faith, maybe not all facts were there, or I had to decide to stop overthinking and just go for it. At times, you just have to cut out any fear and just go for it. Usually you got what you need already.

Seeking balance and to make things right. A lot of swords, indicating a need to remain sharp as well as honest, cut through bullshit. Still, be careful so the sharpness does not hurt you. Again, balance.

Celestial event: Mercury enters first decan Sagittarius (8 of Wands)

Challenge: Think about the sacrifices you made in the past year, big and small. Pull one card for a message from the Tarot about how well the sacrifice(s) paid off. Pull another card about how the sacrifice affected your wellbeing.

I can’t think of anything specific other than time, extra time spent often for work-related things. Let’s go with that.

On payout: Two of Cups. Not sure on this initially. On the home-front, I’d say sacrifices have taken me away from my partner; thenĀ  again she’s done time sacrifices too. The question then is if the price is worth it. If nothing else, we do feel stronger and more connected when we do manage to stay and get together. It is a matter of quality over quantity. We may not have as much togetherness but what we do have is good quality. And we do our best to often replenish each other.

On how the sacrifice has affected me: Seven of Pentacles. It has made me more thoughtful, a bit more mindful. Seeing it as something you do now in hopes of a payout down the road. Makes me a better planner, and it forces me to be patient. Once you lay out the groundwork, done the work, you have to wait for fruits to grow.
