Items about books I want to read, #12

Posted on: September 24, 2010

Here we go again, the latest (as of this date) round-up of books I want to read at some point in the future. As I have said before, one of these days, I may make an update to check some of these off as I read them. In the meantime, here are some more reading ideas.

A few books I saw recently on the shelves of the local public library. I jotted them down to read later when I get done with some of the stuff I am reading now:

And here are some titles I jotted down while visiting the local B&N recently. These are titles I will probably try to get via Interlibrary Loan in the future. It may be a while though, since getting new things via ILL tends to be difficult. The Alinsky book I may just get my own copy.

  • Rick Sanchez, Conventional Idiocy: Why the New America is Tired of Old Politics. I think Sanchez may be a bit too optimistic. I don’t think Americans are tired of the politics. If they were, and they gave a shit, they would vote all the asshats on both parties out of office and go with some third party. People may grouse, but in the end, they elect the same morons over and over. But I may take a look at the book anyways.
  • Saul Alinsky, Rules for Radicals. This is not the first time I see this title, so I am interested now.
  • Chris Hedges, American Fascists: the Christian Right and the War on America. This may be torturing myself if I read it. I mean, I already know the Christian Right does have a war against the U.S. and its decent principles. Heck, they probably have more in common with the Taliban than they are willing to admit. But I probably should look at it.

[…] Radical: a Portrait of Saul Alinsky. This was on their new books shelf. I want to pick it up out of curiosity, but I also want to pick it up because I have Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals on one of my lists of books to read. […]
