Professional development 15 minutes at a time

Posted on: April 28, 2007

Meredith Farkas has a post on "If I just had 15 minutes a day." It discusses how to keep up and learn more about 2.0 tech in 15 minutes a day. The post is prompted by a column written by Stephen Abram on 15 minutes a day as a personal learning strategy (the link goes to Mr. Abram's blog. Once there, his column is linked to a PDF document). His column provides a nice list of ideas for things to do. At various moments I have written about the need for librarians to keep up, especially with their professional reading and development. I like this idea of the 15 minutes because it makes it into an easy approach. I mean, we can all find 15 minutes someplace. At the end of the day, this is probably the kind of thing we should be talking about in my library, but for the moment, I will just have to continue down the guerrilla path.
